It seems obvious: We need increased teacher diversity at all levels of education. Teachers are both educators and mentors. Imagine year after year without a single teacher who “looks like me”–and sounds like me and thinks like me.
The problem: A Brookings report shows that minorities are less likely to go into teaching and less likely to stay in the classroom.
