According to Malcolm Gladwell, it takes 10,000 hours to master any set of skills, including music. For the Beatles, the 10,000 hours were spent in the grungy bars of Hamburg. Today’s music students have a more appealing option: McNally Smith College of Music has programs not only for performers but also for the many unsung (but often well compensated) behind-the-scenes workers: audio engineers, composers, songwriters, managers, promoters, music producers and entrepreneurs.
