A two-year scholarship program at Dunwoody called Women in Technical Careers (WITC), introduces women to careers in welding, construction, HVAC and other technical fields. The Minneapolis Foundation, Hearst Foundation, Womenâ€™s Foundation of Minnesota and many others provided funding for the WITC program.
So far, the program has accepted 42 women aged 18 to 52 . Average salary before enrollment: $12/hour. Average salary of a Dunwoody graduate: $40,000 a year. Placement rate: 98.5 percent.
